Following a veritable slew of hard-hitting EPs on the on the likes of Elevate, FORM Music, Set About and Complexed over the past twelve months, Romanian-born producer and Kuukou Records label boss Simina Grigoriu now returns with her first huge outing of 2021. Due for worldwide release on January 29, Simina’s nostalgic new single takes us back to the city where she was born, as she unveils her remarkable new underground techno cut, Bucureşti.
Igniting the record in emphatic Simina style, the intro sees the Berlin-based talent deliver an impressive combination of heady bass and crisp hi-hats alongside an onslaught of pounding kick drums.
A perfect backdrop to the mesmerising arpeggiated leads that creep in from the ninety-second mark, the record reaches its peak with the introduction of a thunderous synth refrain, which sets the tone for the remainder of the release.
With the release in full swing, frenetic percussion, throbbing lower end and mind-bending acid samples continue to rain down with fierce intensity across the duration of the record, as Simina perfectly manipulates the energy until the close, to round off yet another hefty release on her iconic Kuukou Records.

On May 13, 2016 we raise the curtain on her brand new EP and mark the start of her new series, appropriately named, TECHNO MONKEY. The name is likely not to be entirely unkown to loyal fans! We’re all the more pleased to be able to announce that “Techno Monkey No. 1” will be the first release on Simina’s new label, KUUKOU RECORDS. Each new EP release promises fresh tracks from Simina, as well as a premier remix developed in collaboration with other DJs.
Following the release of her debut album "Exit City” in 2012, Simina is now issuing another big bang with her Techno Monkey series. Concentrated techno power on a label of a special kind. Kuukou Records is a platform for exciting releases, monthly podcasts and remixes and above all, about community. The talented artists in the techno realm are paying attention.
For Simina Grigoriu it’s another milestone in her career, an innovative concept giving free flow to many ideas and one which she’s 100% behind. Together with her team, Simina is constantly working on new projects and is currently planning a private party with top-class lineup.
Her vision is making waves – so we’re all the more pleased that we were able to engage the popular Boiler Room for a slot. In conjunction with four other DJs, this summer, Simina will play a live performance in Berlin and introduce the label. All signs point to?
That’s right – TECHNO.
