Prins Thomas Diskomiks Versions: FSQ

Soul Clap Records welcomes cosmic groove specialist Prins Thomas on the subtle, starry-eyed remixes of ‘Feeling Wide’ - the original is a sleeper hit from late 2025 by FSQ, Moniquea and XL Middleton.

FSQ is a New York City collective of session musicians, producers, DJs and synth lovers fronted by Chuck Da Fonk alongside band members G Koop, One Era, Morgan Wiley and Tate Masimore. The name stands for 'funk style quality,' which is what this outfit always brings to their expressive, authentic sounds. For this one, they hooked up with XL Middleton, a master beat maker who has been reinvigorating boogie and funk with his own synth-laden style for more than a decade, and Cali singer-songwriter Moniquea, who has long been a regular on his MoFunk label with her own soulful style.

Remixing it now is Full Pupp and Internasjonal label head, Prins Thomas. One of disco's most decorated artists, he folds jazz, cosmic, house, psychedelic rock and Italo into his accomplished and expansive sounds.

The original 'Feeling Wide' is a go-slow 80s new wave jam with supple punk-funk riffs and a sleazy edge, while the vocals muse on self-depreciation. His spacious Diskomiks is laidback and hip-swinging, with lazy claps and cosmic licks radiating out of the mid-tempo groove. It's a mood-lit walk under keys that twinkle like the northern lights before the Diskodub is layered with extra luminous, sugary chords over echo-drenched and dubby low ends. Add in the Diskomiks Instrumental with tambourines that glisten like snowflakes in sunlight, and you have a laidback yet purposeful EP that drifts in on a wintery Balearic breeze.
