Soul Clap & Baronhawk Poitier - Set The Scene
Soul Clap & Baronwhawk Poitier's “Set The Scene” is a wonderful EFUNK monster and it is the lead single of the upcoming EFUNK VOLUME V compilation - the annual vinyl EP companion to Soul Clap's House of EFUNK party, the official Movement Fest after party at TV Lounge.
"Set The Scene"'s style teeters on house music but isn't quite definable that way; it's steeped in rhythm, bathed in warm and analogue synths and vocoder then topped by Baronhawk’s spoken command.
We’ve been following the growth of Baltimore/DC’s beloved Baronhawk Poitier for quite some time now. His passion for music, DJing, house dancing and overall life energy is undeniable. Baronhawk’s fingerprints are all over this song especially his vocals, hand played percussion and synth tweaks. He also delivered a Baronhawk Poitier remix which adds a shuffle beat, churchy handclaps, and tinges of acid - pushing the track into the realm of Jackin house.
Here’s more about the remix in Baronhawk’s own words:
“My instincts told me the remix needed to break the 4x4 beat with syncopation and to loop my vocals differently giving them more of a Ballroom flavor.”
